A short trip to New York City

Here are few musical impressions from my 2-day trip to NYC.
The Metropolitan Opera:
The David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center
I was fortunate to watch an amazing concert by the Swiss Orchestra "21st Century Symphony Orchestra" playing the movie score to the movie "Lord of the Rings". My best friend from college was playing the harp, which I didn't want to miss. What an experience! To see the movie on the big screen with all the dialog and sound effects, but the music was played by the 100 musicians and 80 singers from Switzerland. The youth choir was from Brooklyn. It was very educational to watch the conductor reading and conducting from his score, but also having to watch the movie on his tablet with pulsating lights for the beats, and purple, green, and blue lines for preparation, start, and end. It was an unforgettable experience.
Here is a youtube clip from the Orchestra playing the music to "Pirates of the Caribbean" .
Instead of watching a show on Broadway, I went to a show at Radio City Hall. "New York Spring Spectacular" is a whirlwind tour through New York with singing and dancing, starring the famous Rockettes and also Derek Hough from "Dancing with the Stars". I was especially impressed by the set changes and the beautiful costumes.

I love teaching music! I love to make students aware of different kinds of music and open the door to new wolds...
